Sit-to-Stand

A Force Sensitive Resistor–based sit-to-stand monitoring system with sensors placed on the chair to detect sitting and standing transitions. Providing countings and audio feedback.

How it works

  1. Sit on a chair – the green LED turns on when seated. Stand up fully to trigger one sit-to-stand count.
  2. A beep sounds every 5 movements to encourage progress.
  3. The LED color changes gradually with each movement. After 30 movements, a rainbow animation plays as a celebration.

User Feedback and System Improvement

Feedback

  • The green LED is confusing
  • The color-changing LED was engaging and motivating
  • There were too many wires, which made the setup look cluttered

Improvements Made (see Sit-to-Stand v2)

  • Only keep the RGB LED for visual backback
  • Upgrade to wireless system, seperate the sensor and feedback parts
