Arm Raises and Extensions

An interactive system that promotes upper-body exercises such as arm raises and arm extensions through target-based reaching tasks using NFC technology.

How it works

  1. The user holds one NFC tag in each hand.
  2. Four RFID readers are placed at different target positions.
  3. When a tag touches a reader, the system detects which hand activated which target.
  4. The system provides immediate visual (LCD display) and audio feedback for each successful touch.

User Feedback and System Improvement

Feedback

  • The concept is strong and engaging
  • The cables are too short, causing the readers to be placed too close together
  • Sensitivity issue

Improvements Made (see NFC Game)

  • Make it a game with UI
  • Redesigned from handheld tags with fixed readers to handheld readers with fixed tags, expanding the interaction area and reducing cable limitations
