Pet the Puppy v2

A playful interaction system that encourages repeated movement through a simple “pet the puppy” activity.
This version enhances the experience with richer sound feedback to make each interaction more engaging.

How it works

  1. A proximity sensor attached to a toy dog detects when a user brings their hand close to it. Each interaction is counted and displayed on the LED matrix.
  2. After every pet, a smiley face appears on the screen and a short bark sound plays. Every five pets, a different bark sound is triggered as a small reward.
  3. A horizontal bar at the bottom of the display reflects interaction frequency, giving users a sense of pace.

User Feedback and System Improvement

Feedback

  • Enjoy the idea
  • Some expected the dog to do more
  • Should have the option to turn on/off the sound
  • Could be more portable and placed on different toys
